BELGRADE — Four Bravette Brawlers worked their way onto the podium at the girls Super 14 wrestling tournament Saturday at Belgrade High School.

Julia Kay led the way with a second-place finish at 130 pounds, falling 9-8 in the championship match against Belgrade’s Charlee Lund.

Kiera Lackey and Elisa Bernabe met in the consolation semifinals at 135 with Lackey taking the win. Both girls took victories in their final matches with Lackey placing third and Bernabe in fifth.

Bella Downing rebounded to finish fifth after pinning Miles City’s Aly Dinardi at 120.

“The Bravette Brawlers battled sickness and injuries through the break and into the tournament weekend,” Flathead coach Amber Downing said. “We had a few losses that we don't typically see from our key girls, but its a great learning opportunity and motivation heading into a busy week. It's a sport where you have to dig deep and have grit to come out on top against all odds.”

The Bravettes finished fourth as a team with 130 points. Billings Senior took the team title with 237.5, Miles City was second with 169 and Helena Capital in third at 139.5.
