Meet Jason Berry, the owner and operator of JB Painting Co. LLC, a family-owned business.
Jason loves living in the Pacific Northwest, enjoying the outdoors, boating on Lake Coeur d’Alene and restoring old trucks with his sons, but most importantly, working with his family.
1) When, how, and why did you create JB Painting Co.?
I created JB Painting Co. in 2006 after years of working in the trade and realizing I wanted to build something of my own. Painting has always been more than a job to me; it’s a craft I take pride in. I started the company to provide dependable, high-quality work while creating a business my family could be part of and proud of. I wanted clients to feel confident knowing they were hiring someone who truly cares about the outcome.
2) What do you love most about owning a family business that includes multiple generations?
What I love most is the sense of legacy. Working alongside family, especially across generations, means values, work ethic and knowledge get passed down, not lost. There’s a deeper level of trust and accountability, and it’s incredibly meaningful to know we’re building something together that can last. It’s not just a business; it’s part of our family story.
3) What is one of your fondest success stories?
One of my fondest moments wasn’t the biggest job, but one of the most meaningful. The annual donation of the Senior House Paint Giveaway started when we helped a homeowner who couldn’t afford a much needed repaint due to personal hardship. Seeing the relief and gratitude on their face reminded me why I do this work. It reinforced that success isn’t only measured in dollars — it’s measured in impact and doing right by people.
4) What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
People are often surprised to learn that I spent my early years as a chef. I genuinely enjoyed the restaurant business but hated the hours. Painting still allows for my artistic outlet, and working with family is the best benefit.
5) What is JB Painting Co. most looking forward to in 2026?
In 2026, we’re celebrating 20 years in business! Our plan is to continue growth while staying true to who we are. That means expanding our reach, taking on more projects and possibly bringing more family and local talent into the business, all without sacrificing quality or personal service. The goal is growth with purpose. Visit jb4paint.com or contact our office in Coeur d’Alene at 208-784-8064.
