PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Coeur d'Alene topples Ferris for fifth straight victory

SPOKANE — Junior Brookeslee Colvin scored 20 of her game-high 27 points in the first half for Coeur d’Alene in a 70-44 win over the Ferris Saxons in a nonleague game at Ferris High on Friday.
Sophomore Lexie Wheeler scored 14 points and senior Natalie Semprimoznik added nine points for Coeur d’Alene, which led 42-19 at halftime.
Senior Mateia Eschenbacher scored 20 points for Ferris (4-6).
Coeur d’Alene (11-2) hosts Big Sky of Missoula, Mont., today at 2 p.m.

POST FALLS — Sophomore Annabelle Tucker scored 10 points for the shorthanded Trojans in a nonleague loss to the Falcons of Liberty Lake at The Arena.
“They’re one of the better teams in the GSL,” Post Falls coach Brian Carlson said. “I was proud of how our girls fought in the first quarter. We competed and played hard, which we’ve done in the last couple of games. If we continue to do that, we’ll be OK.”
Post Falls (5-12) played without senior guard Kailey Walton, who missed her fourth straight game after re-aggravating a hamstring injury. Carlson added he hopes she’ll return for a Jan. 14 game at Lake City.
Junior Grace Sheridan scored 20 points for Ridgeline (8-2).
“I was really pleased with Olivia (Hollenbeck),” Carlson said. “She had to defend Grace, and was outside on her quite a bit, but she played really well against her. She has to do a lot for us, but I love what she brings to our team.”
Post Falls hosts Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.

WELLPINIT, Wash. — Sophomore Laila SiJohn scored a game-high 19 points for the Knights in a loss to the Redskins in the Wellpinit Tournament.
Lakeside was without leading scorer Kyleigh Wolfe, who received two technical fouls during the Knights’ game against Pendleton (Ore.) on Wednesday in the Avista Holiday Tournament at Lewis-Clark State College, and was suspended for Friday’s game.
Lakeside faces Mary Walker of Springdale, Wash., today at 3 p.m.
Layla Leva scored 13 points for Wellpinit (2-7).
