Being hard to guard is a distinct advantage in the game of basketball.

Proving to be just that – very hard to guard – for a second straight high scoring game, Trotter sophomore Hadyn Rice pumped in a career-high 28 points to lead Plains to a 61-46 victory over the visiting Troy Lady Trojans in Plains Saturday.

“Hadyn is proving to be hard to guard underneath the basket,” Plains coach Brooks Sanford said. “We played pretty well as a team against Troy.”

In addition to scoring those 28 points, Rice also dominated the glass, pulling down 15 rebounds for Plains.

Also proving hard to guard, Katelyn Subatch added 12 points and three steals, and Ava Lawyer 10 points and eight assists to the Trotter attack.

Haiely Dungan scored a game-high 14 points for Troy, and Kristi Jellesed, Nautika Larson and Olvia Hall added nine points each for the balanced Trojans.

Now 3-3 overall, the Trotters have a pair of non-conference road games this week, at Hot Springs Tuesday and at Darby Friday.
