Idaho State Police Specialist Travis Bucher will be honored Thursday, Jan. 8, for saving the life of a Sagle resident May 26, 2025.
Bucher will also be promoted to detective while receiving the ISP Life Saving Award for responding to a report of CPR at a Sagle residence.
“He immediately responded and arrived within two minutes,” ISP officials said in a news release. “Upon entering the residence, he found an unresponsive adult male without a pulse. Specialist Bucher took control of the scene, deployed his issued Automated External Defibrillator, administered shocks as advised by the device, and performed CPR until fire and EMS personnel arrived.”
According to the news release, the man was transported to the hospital and admitted to intensive care before surviving the medical event. Medical personnel on the scene credited Bucher’s quick response to the man’s survival, saying he acted in a calm, professional manner while adhering to his professional training.
“It exemplified the highest standards of public service and emergency response,” the report said.
The Life Saving Award is presented to any ISP employee who saves the life of another person. The employee may receive this award for actions taken on-duty or off-duty.
A promotional ceremony and award presentation will take place at 3 p.m. at the ISP District 1 training room in Coeur d’Alene.
