Leland 'Lee' Lacey
Shoshone News-Press | UPDATED 2 days AGO
Born in Wallace, Idaho, Lee spent most of his life in the Silver Valley. In his youth, he enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing and square dancing. As he got older, he enjoyed roller skating, water skiing, hot rods and racing motorcycles. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1963. After the Army, he worked construction in Spokane, Wash., which led to work in Las Vegas, Nev. While in Las Vegas, he was an accomplished billiards player and self-proclaimed grilling master. He always felt the pull of the Silver Valley, where he lived for the last 30 years, camping, hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. His favorite part of the Silver Valley was the people who cared and looked out for each other.
Lee's family would like to thank the many friends and family of the Silver Valley (and beyond) who looked after him through his health struggles in later years. He was determined to live life on his own terms, and it wouldn't have been possible without them.
He is preceded in death by his father, Louis "Mark" Lacey of Hayden, Idaho, and his mother, Juanita Brown of Smelterville, Idaho; his sisters, Verna Letchet of Osburn, Idaho, and Roxy Slagle of Sandy, Ore. He is survived by daughter Landa Lacey of Rose Lake, Idaho, and son Mark Lacey (Julie) of Meridian, Idaho, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held by friends in Smelterville, Idaho, at a later date.
