Rhett Lindskoog had the hot hand and Nico Young returned to the court as the Columbia Falls boys basketball team walloped Hamilton 64-33 on the road Saturday.

But the Cats fell just short against Ronan Tuesday in their Wildcats home opener, 69-62. The game was tied late in the fourth, but Ronan hit a couple of treys. The Cats responded with an old-fashioned trey by Nico Young who was fouled on a shot and hit the free throw which cut it to 65-61, but that's as close as they could get as the late shots just didn't drop.

Against Hamilton, Lindskoog hit four three pointers and had 14 points total to lead the Wildcats.

Easton Brooks had 11 points and eight rebounds and Joe West had 10. Young, who didn’t start the season due to an injury and surgery in the offseason, was back on the court for the Cats and had four points.

He also played well against Ronan.

The Cats had a big third quarter with 24 points to seal the win against Hamilton after being up 11 at the half. Coach Chris Finberg noted that their defense kept them in it in the first half and then the offense meshed in the second half.

He said it was nice to see Lindskoog get it going from beyond the arc, which is his specialty.
