Whitefish Schools invite community input for superintendent search

The Whitefish School District Board of Trustees has launched a national search for the district’s next superintendent, after Superintendent Dave Means announced he will retire at the end of the current school year.
The Board has engaged McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., one of the nation’s leading superintendent search firms, to assist with the process. The firm will support the Board in identifying, screening and recommending highly qualified candidates to lead the Whitefish School District.
As part of the search process, consultant Shar Anderson Johns of Victor, Montana, will be in Whitefish on Wednesday, Jan. 14.* Johns will meet with district administrators and staff at each school during the day, including two community and parent meetings at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Whitefish School District Board Room.
Community members are invited to share input on the qualities and leadership characteristics they would like to see in the district’s next superintendent.
“Selecting our next superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board,” said Elizabeth Pitman, chair of the Whitefish School District Board of Trustees. “We deeply value community feedback in this process.”
Johns joined McPherson & Jacobson in 2019 after 30 years as a classroom teacher, site administrator, central office leader and associate superintendent. She has led and supported superintendent searches nationwide and understands the importance of finding and maintaining quality leadership with a “students first” focus.
