For the first time this season, the Badgers were without both of their seniors. However, this team, who played with mostly juniors and freshman, showed that they are getting into stride as the season moves towards its second half with a ten-point win over the Lakeside Knights on Jan. 8.

Junior Nolie Hiatt had 10 points and 9 rebounds, junior Taren Bateman scored 26 points to go with twelve boards and freshman Bristol Hill scored 13 points on four three-pointers as the Badgers used a dominant first quarter to win their fifth game in their last six to move to 7-5.

A week after beating a Reardan team that was 8-1, Bonners Ferry went to Lakeside and started strong, leading 9-2 before finishing the beginning period with a 19-9 lead.

The score grew to 25-10 in favor of the Badgers before Lakeside fought back, trailing 33-24 at the half.

A 13-4 run for Bonners Ferry to start the third quarter meant that they had a 46-28 lead, which would be the biggest of the game. However, the Knights answered once again, finishing the quarter with a 12-2 run of their own to make the score 48-38 with eight minutes left.

While the Badgers lead shrunk to five points with less than three minutes on the clock, Bonners Ferry was able to pull away, despite a brilliant layup made by freshman Jaycee Bateman while being fouled being disallowed due to a referee stating the foul occurred before she shot the ball. The Badgers eventually closed the game out with a 10 point win.

Junior Eva Willis continues to have an interesting season rebounding, as she now averages three offensive rebounds per game, which is more than her defensive rebounds. Hiatt leads the team in rebounds, with 6.9 per game.

The Badgers are now ranked 38 in Idaho.
