RATHDRUM — Senior Brayden Carrel scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and the Lakeland Hawks pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Timberlake Tigers 17-7 en route to a 51-37 nonleague win on senior night Thursday at Hawk Court.
Junior Wyatt Fuhriman added 11 points and three steals for Lakeland (5-4), and senior Jaron Yager hit three 3-pointers and finished with 10 points and eight boards.
"It was our senior night and I couldn’t be more proud of those guys and what they’ve given to this program," second-year Lakeland coach Caleb De Fabiis said. "Our defense set the tone tonight only giving up five points in the first quarter and 37 total all game. Offensively our shots just didn’t fall the way we wanted, but our guys stayed connected, kept competing, and our defense carried us."
Wade Van Gundy led Timberlake (3-4) with 11 points.
"We just need to get better at converting in the paint," Timberlake coach Juston Henry said. "We missed too many shots that should be high-percentage makes. We were in a good position going into the fourth and Lakeland went on a run to start the fourth quarter that made it hard to come back from."
On Saturday, Timberlake travels to Kellogg, and Lakeland is home vs. Moscow in a 5A Inland Empire League game.
