POST FALLS — As it turned out, a few days off worked wonders for the Post Falls wrestling team.
Post Falls, which competed in The CLASH duals tournament in La Crosse, Wis., last weekend, beat Thunder Ridge of Idaho Falls 71-6 on Thursday in a tuneup for the River City Duals tournament starting today at Post Falls High.
"We took it a little easy the last couple of days, and our guys responded tonight,” said Post Falls coach Jeremy Zender, whose team went 2-3 in Wisconsin last weekend. “The guys looked tuned up and ready to go, which was nice to see.”
Logan Loaiza (120 pounds), Brandon Felix (138) and Titus Wise (144) won by technical fall for Post Falls.
A total of 32 boys teams and 12 girls teams will compete in the River City Duals at Post Falls High today and Saturday. The tournament is separated into two sessions, with 16 teams competing during the first session starting at 1 p.m. today, then the other 16 in the evening session starting at 5.
"We went to this last year and it worked really well," Zender said. "Teams get their duals in and there's no sitting around."

COEUR d’ALENE — Any win at this point in the season is nice.
For the Vikings, it was a good one in the eyes of coach Jeff Moffat at Coeur d’Alene High.
Justus Peregrina (120 pounds), Dominic Prangley (150), Finn Case (157), Cruz Paulin (165), Brock Armstrong (190) and Rylan Peterson (215) had pins for the Vikings, who beat the Bulldogs in a tuneup for the River City Duals starting today at Post Falls High.
“It was a good win by Finn,” Moffat said. “He was getting beat the entire match, but it was nice to see him find a way to get a win. Justus beat a really good kid (IIan Shank) that’s a three-time state placer and Micah (Miller) had a really good match. Nampa is ranked No. 1 in 5A, but our guys competed well. The guys that are buying into what we’re doing and working hard in practice and wrestled well. But I told our guys after the match to feel good, because that’s a good win.”
Both teams will compete in the River City Duals tournament at Post Falls High today and Saturday.
