Butte boys pull away from Glacier; Bulldog girls down Wolfpack

Hudson Luedtke scored 29 points and the Butte boys stayed unbeaten with a 72-57 victory over Glacier Saturday, while the Bulldog girls took control early and defeated the Wolfpack 72-37 to sweep a Western AA basketball doubleheader at the Wolf Den.


The Bulldog boys (7-0 overall, 2-0 in Western AA games), used a 10-2 run from the end of the third into the fourth to take a 55-44 lead. Luedtke sank a contested three just before the third-quarter buzzer, sparking the run. 


Luedtke rounded out the Kalispell road trip with 58 points and seven 3-pointers after scoring 29 against Flathead Friday.

Rhett Arntson added 13 for the Bulldogs, while Cayde Stajcar and Mike Verlanic added 12 each. 


Cooper Pelc led the Wolfpack (3-4, 0-2 in conference) with 17 points, Asher Knopik added 13. 


Glacier led 16-10 early in the second quarter before a short 7-1 spurt from Butte leveled the score at 17. 


Butte capped off the victory with an alley-oop off the backboard from Luedtke to Brady Hansen in the final minute to put the Bulldogs up 70-52.

Cadence Graham sparked the early run with a 3-pointer late in the first quarter as the Bulldogs (4-3 overall, 2-0 in Western AA games) turned a 9-9 tie into a 23-9 advantage early in the second frame. 


Graham finished with 16 points. Elli Graham also scored 16, including four triples. 


Butte hit seven shots from behind the arc in total. 


Karley Allen led the Wolfpack (1-6, 0-2 in conference) with 15 points. She had five points in the first quarter as Glacier stayed close during the opening five minutes.  


Remi Osler had six, all in the first half. 


Glacier is back on the court Tuesday as they travel to Missoula and battle Big Sky at 7 p.m.
