Carla Lorene Neugebauer, 77, born on June 14, 1948, in Whitefish, lived a life dedicated to nurturing both her community and her family. The daughter of Ray and Grace Lorene Brown, Carla devoted nearly three decades to the Whitefish Cemetery, transforming it into a serene haven for reflection and remembrance. Her exceptional tenure began on July 17, 1995, and continued until her retirement at the age of 77, leaving a legacy of beauty and care.

Carla’s angelic singing voice could have made even Patsy Cline proud, and she was a talented seamstress who delighted in creating handmade Christmas ornaments cherished by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Morris David Neugebauer, and Wade Neugebauer.

Carla’s last years of her life journey were spent alongside Scott Lovelace and their pets, Jazzie, Brodie and Tippy. Her legacy lives on through her children, Danna Herrell (Dave), Curtis Ost (Staci), Monica Foster (Jeff) and Matt Swingholm (Lisa); her grandchildren, Kayla (Matt), Kendra (Brandon), Presley (Jack), Makenna, Taylor (Brandon), Brenna, Caroline, Brandy and Madison; and her great-grandchildren, Kinley, Brantley, Dax, Jaedon, Kennedy, Cash, Laice, Beau and Waylon, who will forever cherish her memory.

Carla’s life was a testament to the wisdom, "Never blame anyone in life. Good people give happiness, bad people give experience, worst people give a lesson, and the best people give memories."

A service in her honor will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the Whitefish Methodist Church, followed by a gathering to celebrate her remarkable life.
