NIC WRESTLING: Cardinals go 4-1 on first day of Coaches Duals

MIAMI, Okla. — North Idaho College went 4-1 on the opening day of the NJCAA Coaches Duals tournament on Friday on the campus of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, advancing to the championship bracket. 

Seth Martin, a freshman from Post Falls High, went 4-0 at 184 pounds for NIC. 

NIC, ranked sixth in the latest NJCAA poll, beat Andrew College of Cuthbert, Ga., 49-6, Cloud County of Concordia, Kan., 36-16, Triton College of River Grove, Ill., 45-6 and Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa 47-6 before falling to fifth ranked Southeast of Beatrice, Neb., 36-12 in its final dual of the day. 

NIC will face fourth-ranked Clackamas of Oregon City, Ore., in a quarterfinal match today. The Cardinals beat the Cougars 28-21 in a dual on Nov. 21 at Christianson Gymnasium in Coeur d’Alene.  

The schools are also scheduled to wrestle next Friday in Oregon City, Ore.
