Janice Mae (Johnson) Hosford of Allyn, Washington, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Kalispell, Montana, on Sept. 26, 1938. Janice was a proud graduate of Flathead High School, Class of 1956. As a youngster, she found joy in being a member of the marching band and spent her summers swimming in the cold waters of Flathead Lake.
Throughout her life, Janice was an active and engaged member of her community. She had a passion for physical activity, often found on the tennis courts. Her creative spirit thrived through singing and playing the piano in her church choir. She loved dancing and was always ready to hit the dance floor. In a testament to her compassionate nature, she dedicated her time as a crisis line volunteer, offering comfort and support to those in need.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Clinton Johnson and her sisters, Avis Arelene Wang and Yvonne Elnore Earl.
She is survived by her devoted partner of 40 years, Steven Dewey Helland; her two children, Kimberly Dawn Smith and Kory Allan Lemon and her cherished grandchild, August A. Rigsby. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her kind heart and vibrant spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the non-profit organization, The HUB (Hospitality, Unity and Belonging) Senior Center. This was a place Janice enjoyed listening to live music and spending her free time.
