Douglas Ray Agar, 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Post Falls on Dec. 21, 2025. Doug was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on July 25, 1959, to Clifford and Kay Agar. A true Coeur d’Alene native, Doug’s love for life and friendly nature extended to everyone he met.

Doug attended Roosevelt Grade School and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School. During this time, he worked at the iconic Hudson’s Hamburgers, which has been serving some of Idaho's best burgers since 1907. He earned his associate degree in electronics from North Idaho College and later attended the University of Colorado, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He began his career working for ESL in Silicon Valley before continuing on to various engineering firms. His career included time spent in Alice Springs, Australia, where he joined an amateur baseball league, as well as government contract work for the naval base in Bayview, Idaho.

As a young adult, Doug could often be seen being pulled around town on his bike, feet on the handlebars, by his beloved Rottweiler, Max. Doug and Max also spent time volunteering at the children’s hospital in Denver, Colo., during their years there.

Doug enjoyed fishing, racquetball, baseball and golf, and spent much of his time teaching his son, Sean, his pride and joy, about the ins and outs of his beloved hometown. They bonded over their shared competitive spirit and could often be found playing makeshift Frisbee golf in downtown Coeur d’Alene, followed by stops at the local shops for black licorice taffy and a Huddy’s burger with strawberry rhubarb pie.

He is survived by his son, Sean Douglas Agar; his sister, Debra Kay Agar Bowman; and his brother-in-law, Steve Bowman.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at the Historic Iron Horse Bar and Grill, where a strong turnout of friends and family gathered to share stories and reminisce about the many great times spent with Doug over the years. Yates Funeral Home was entrusted with the care of his final arrangements.
