For the second straight offseason the Montana Grizzlies are adding some north Valley talent to their roster from the transfer portal.

Ryder Barinowski announced his transfer to Missoula Tuesday from Montana Tech.

The then-Oredigger kicker attempted no field goals this past fall, but was a kickoff specialist in Butte. He had 95 touchbacks on 166 kickoffs during his two years with Montana Tech.

Montana added Bulldogs running back Fynn Ridgeway to the roster through the transfer portal in 2024 from Moorhead (Minn.) State.

Montana also received commitments from tight end Reese Brooks who transferred out of Cal Poly and wide receiver Legend Lyons from Minnesota.

Brooks appeared in three games a season ago with the Mustangs, while Lyons did not play with the Golden Gophers and has in four years of eligibility.

On Monday, Montana added another local product into the roster for 2026 in Thompson Falls native Hayden Hanks. Hanks medically retired from football while at Boise State but posted his commitment on X/Twitter with the caption “Coming Home #Unretired.”

The Griz also added an all-purpose player in Louisville transfer Shaun Boykins Jr., who could fill in the void left by the graduation of Michael Wortham.
