John Everett Hyslop, 57, of Libby, Montana, passed away Jan. 8, 2026, in Libby.
He was born Dec. 30, 1968, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Judy Hyslop.
John moved to New Jersey in 1978, graduating high school in 1986. After 26 years there, he relocated to Libby in 2012, drawn by Montana’s beauty and a desire to be closer to his mother. He married Karen Carson on June 13, 2019.
John began his law enforcement career with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in September 2013, later serving as Undersheriff beginning in November 2024. One of his proudest roles was serving as handler to Bear, the Narcotics K-9.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Hyslop; wife, Karen Hyslop; daughter, Sierra Hyslop; step-children, Mykayla McLaurry (Drew) and Mitchell Woodworth (Corey Willis); grandchildren Lanie, Zoey, Thaddeus, Evalynn, Theodore, Connor and James; and his loyal dogs, Bear and Grey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at Assembly of God Church in Libby, with Kevin Lindgren officiating.
