Larry Oursland

Our dearest Larry O. left us on Dec. 26, 2025. He was a Kalispell born-and-raised youngster growing up in the Flathead in the 50's and 60's when Kalispell was safe, everyone knew each other and a handshake meant something.
He was the eldest son of Laurence and Chris along with five siblings. He grew up in Evergreen and attended grades K-8 at Evergreen schools and then on to Flathead High. He was always ready for any adventures he, or his childhood buddies, Monty and Gordy, came up with.
Of his many interests, music was probably number one. He played multiple instruments, one being the saxophone while in the Flathead High School Varsity Band, Pep Band and Dance Band. His first steady job was at the then, C and C Plywood Mill. He continued his love of music learning guitar and fiddle and later banjo, mandolin, piano and pedal steel. He loved when live music in NW Montana was present and abundant in the 70's and 80's.
He and fellow band members played locally and traveled to several states and Canada, becoming lifelong friends. After the music industry slowed, he worked for WC Rice Masonry and then on to Swan Valley Herbs being a student and employee under Herbalist, Tom Tracey, learning the world of medicinal herbs for nearly 30 years.
Larry and wife, Armida, married in November of 1977. She recognized his sincerity, quiet intelligence and loving gentleness. They have remained intertwined for the past near half century. She awaits a future reuniting with him and son, Tasunke "T." Whoever truly knew Larry, loved him.
A memorial to Larry will be later announced to take place either in late spring, or early summer. Location to be determined at that time.
