Marie Mitchell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at Renaissance Nursing Home in Kalispell.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Ernest and Leora Siems. Marie spent her childhood growing up in Hill City, Minnesota, where she attended school and graduated from Hill City High School in 1958.

In 1968, Marie moved to Ukiah, California, where she worked at the welfare office until 1973. She then relocated to Sacramento, California, beginning a long career with the state of California Department of Justice, where she worked from 1973 until her retirement in 1995. Following her retirement, Marie moved to Kalispell to care for her parents.

Her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, John Siems.

Marie had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and in her younger years was well known for bringing home any cat in need of care. She also found joy in feeding ducks and geese. In her later years, she especially enjoyed going on drives with friends.

Her faith was central to her life, and she loved God deeply, finding great joy in fellowship and time spent with friends. Marie was known for always wanting to joke around and was never afraid to give you a hard time. She lived a simple, meaningful life grounded in kindness, faith, and compassion.

Marie spent her final years at Renaissance Nursing Home, where she was surrounded by love and care from the many residents and dedicated caregivers who became like family to her.

Marie will be remembered for her warm heart, her humor, her love of animals, and her unwavering faith.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Jan. 16, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell.
