Overcoming a slow start which left them trailing 19-14 at halftime, the Plains Trotters surged past the Darby Tigers 43-34 in a non-conference game at Darby Friday.
Now 3-2 overall, the Trotters host Thompson Falls Thursday in a District 7B conference counter and visit Seeley-Swan Friday in another non-conference game.
Trotter coach Brooks Sanford looked back and looked ahead. “I would say we overcame a slow start and played an excellent second half to earn the win on the road,” he said. “Thompson Falls will be a good test to see where we are at.”
The Trotters took charge in Darby with a convincing 19-9 win of the third period, giving Plains a 33-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Ava Lawyer scored 13 points and Mila Rivinius 12 to lead the Trotters in Darby, while Taryn Meredith and Katelyn Subatch added nine apiece.
Hadley Heiland led Darby, which fell to 0-5, with 12 points.
