Lois Ann Chapin, 86
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 5 hours, 15 minutes AGO
Lois Chapin passed away Dec. 30, 2025, at the age of 86. "Heaven just got a little sweeter.”
Lois was born July 19, 1939, up Blacktail Road in Cocolalla to Marvin and Alberta (Terrell) Johnson. As a child, she grew up on the family farm in Cocolalla, attending the Cocolalla school on the loop road and high school in Sandpoint. She met Mason Chapin at a dance at the old schoolhouse in Cocolalla. They were married May 26, 1957, at the Cocolalla Church on the south side of the lake. They raised five children starting in Post Falls and moving to Cocolalla in 1970. As the kids grew older, she started working as a cook at the View Cafe in the mid 70’s. Over the years, she worked at the Korner Cafe in Sagle, as well as the Hoot Owl, Connie's, Travelers, and others.
She enjoyed bowling league for many years, but her greatest passion was her family.
She had five kids, 10 grandkids, and 19 great-grandkids. Our loss here on earth is tremendous, but we are comforted with the thought of her being in the presence of Jesus. Her body is whole, and her afflictions are cured.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Alberta Johnson; her husband, Mason; her brother, Leland; her sister, Kathleen; her son, Kent; her infant daughter, Teresa; and her great-grandson, Easton Boe. She is survived by her children, Brian and Ellie of Sagle, Kevin and LaRinda of Post Falls, Grant and Angie of Cocolalla, and Melanie and John Slack of Old Town, as well as 29 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved those kids.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Jan. 24, 2026, at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in Seneacquoteen Cemetery.
