Bravettes lead after day 1 at Hellgate Mixer

MISSOULA — Five Bravettes wrestlers earned semifinal positions and Flathead holds a 29.5 point lead over Ronan in the team standings at the Hellgate Mixer after the first day of action.


In addition to the five semifinalists, Flathead has four wrestlers still in contention on the consolation side of the bracket. 


Bella Downing and Kyra McMahon both made the semifinals at 120 pounds and could face off in Saturday’s championship match. 


Sam Bennetts advanced at 130, while Kiera Lackey (135) and Alisha Cook (145) are also in contention for individual titles. 


The Bravettes sit at 128 points, with Ronan at 98.5 in second. Butte sits third with 97.6 points. 


Glacier sits in 16th in the team standings with 45 points. 


Katelyn Sphuler is the lone Wolfpack wrestler in the semifinals at 100. Three other wresters sit in the consolation rounds going into Saturday’s action. 


Ronan also placed five wrestlers into the semifinals with River Cote and Marie Cheff both earning spots at 105. Finlay Taylor (190), Judasha Ellsworth (235) and Leona Dodson Howe (155) also reached the semis. 


Whitefish has a pair of wrestlers alive for titles as well with Orla Sullivan (120) and Taylor Dorvall (130) in the semifinals. 


Polson’s Kalah Dumont and Kellyn Nelson powered their way into Saturday’s winners bracket action. 


Libby’s lone combatant, Meghan Connelley is in the semifinals at 155, while Eureka’s Kricket Bridges earned a spot in the 100-pound semis.
