Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 4 days, 5 hours AGO
The Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra will present "The Nature of Us," a musically descriptive and inspiring family concert at 3 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Schuler Performing Arts Center on the North Idaho College campus.
With familiar melodies, imaginative themes and a supportive, family-conscious environment, this concert will offer a meaningful and enjoyable introduction to the symphony experience.
This special afternoon concert will celebrate the beauty of the natural world through some of classical music’s most recognizable and imaginative works. The program will open with a performance of Beethoven’s "Egmont Overture," featuring the North Idaho Youth Symphony Orchestra, and will continue with the second movement from Dvořák’s "Symphony No. 9," “From the New World.” This side-by-side performance brings young musicians and professional players together for a shared musical experience.
Selections that explore how music reflects landscapes, emotions and the human connection to nature will also be performed. Audience favorites include Handel’s "Water Music," Grofé’s sweeping "Grand Canyon Suite," Grieg’s "Morning Mood" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and more.
Children are welcome to attend when they can remain seated and quiet throughout the performance. Tickets and additional information are available at cdasymphony.org or by calling 208-765-3833.
