Gerald “Gerry” Alva Walters

Gerald “Gerry” Alva Walters, 83, was born on July 1, 1942, was raised in Whitefish, the son of the late Gerald Alfred Walters and Elva Laura deLongpre. Gerry passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 2026. 

Gerry was a 1962 graduate of Whitefish High School and attended college in Havre and Dillon; he worked in Alaska paving roads. He also worked for the Forestry Service in Tacoma and Glacier National Park on trails and fire lookout towers and then on various other jobs around the Flathead. His final employment was with the Anaconda Aluminum Plant where he was injured in 1982 and retired.

Gerry is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Ava Ruth Carpenter who passed away in 2012 and his sister Elana Shanklin in 2005. He is survived by his daughter Kara Lee Walters, son Casey Allen Walters, sister Gaylene Bordeaux, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ava and Gerry were members of The Bible Presbyterian Church in Kalispell.

A memorial service will be held at a later time and inurnment in Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell.
