MOSCOW — Freshman Payton Brown hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 6:48 remaining, junior Brookeslee Colvin scored 21 points and the Coeur d’Alene Vikings held off the Moscow Bears 50-47 in a nonleague game at Bear Den on Thursday.
“Moscow played tough, and came out with great energy and led for most of the game,” Coeur d’Alene coach Stacy Boyd said. “We didn’t match their energy and intensity until late in the third quarter. They pressured us into 13 turnovers, which is out of character for us, and they took us out of rhythm. We rushed shots and didn’t get settled offensively.”
Colvin fouled out with 56 seconds remaining and Coeur d’Alene leading 50-47.
Sophomore Lexie Wheeler added 11 points for Coeur d’Alene (16-2), which has won 10 straight.
"I knew our girls would lock in and do what they needed to do to get the win on the road,” Boyd said. “We’ve only had four home games out of 18, and I think all these road games are working to our advantage by helping us learn how to compete in tough environments. It was clear fatigue was starting to settle in, but I’m glad we're getting battle-tested, which is what we’ll need down the stretch.”
Coeur d’Alene hosts Lake City next Thursday.

KELLOGG — Junior Jordyn Stutzke had 14 points and eight steals for the Wildcats in a Central Idaho League win over the Spartans at Andrews Gymnasium.
Freshman Gretah Angle had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists and sophomore Peyton Storey scored 12 points for Kellogg (8-4, 4-0 CIL), which hosts Orofino today at 4 p.m.
“Jordyn had an incredible defensive game for us,” Kellogg coach Jana Nearing said. “We were without our starting three guard, who is out with the flu and we had a couple of starters get in foul trouble early. Our bench came out strong for us tonight.”
Haylee Jepson-Church and Mckinley Burgess-Duquette scored nine points each for Priest River (5-7, 1-5).

PRIEST RIVER — Seniors JJ Yearout and Isaiah Gustaffe keyed a 36-4 first-quarter onslaught for the visiting Lumberjacks in the Central Idaho League victory over the Spartans.
Yearout had 16 of his 21 points in the first quarter, and also finished with 11 rebounds for St. Maries (8-1, 2-0 CIL), which has won eight straight. Gustaffe tallied 10 of his 11 points in the opening quarter.
“We were running a run-and-jump, and they had a little bit shorter guards, and it was effective getting deflections and easy ones early on,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said.
Brock Barta hit 3 of 4 3-pointers and finished with 13 points and five assists for St. Maries, which plays host to Grangeville on Saturday in CIL play.
Senior Ian Lamanna scored 11 points for Priest River (2-7, 1-3).

FRENCHTOWN, Mont. — Solomon Crowley (132 pounds) and Josh Macdonald (157) won by major decision for the Timberwolves in a dual with the Broncs at Frenchtown High.
Frenchtown claimed three wins via forfeit in the dual, a tuneup for today’s Rocky Mountain Classic at Sentinel High in Missoula.
"The kids wrestled really hard tonight," Lake City coach Corey Owen said. "We were missing a few guys due to injury, and just couldn't overcome giving them three forfeits. Our seniors Josh Macdonald, Tucker Bridwell and James Vincent showed a ton of composure and got big wins for us tonight."
Poppy Schenk (140 pounds) and Aspen Kiser (155) had pins for the Timberwolves in girls matches against Frenchtown.
The girls Rocky Mountain Classic will be at Hellgate High in Missoula, also today and Saturday.
