Beverly Jeanne Shade, 94, passed away Jan. 1, 2026. Bev was born Sept. 22, 1931, in St James, Minnesota, to Anthony and Freida Roberts.
At an early age, her family moved to Worthington, Minnesota, where she was raised with her seven siblings. In the early 1950s, she moved to Kalispell, and that is where she met and married John Shade. Being a wife and mother to their three daughters was a blessing and privilege for her to be a stay-at-home mom. She was extremely proud of her children's accomplishments and of being able to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom's happy place was her kitchen, where she was an avid baker and loved trying new recipes for her family. She would spend hours looking through cookbooks and even receiving a new recipe book days prior to her passing.
Their retirement years found them involved with the Heritage Club and the many adventures and activities they participated in. They enjoyed the variety of walks with the American Volkssport Association. Her favorite vacation spot was the Oregon Coast.
She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and more recent years, a member of the Church at Creston-Lutheran.
Bev was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents and four of her siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Koller, (the late Roger Koller) of Pomeroy, Washington; Barb Venche (Robert) Kalispell and Linda Obrecht (Sam) Turner; her five grandsons, Paul Venche, Andy Venche (Ashley), Nolan Koller (Ashley), Wyatt Koller (Colleen) and Tyrel Obrecht (Lindsey); one granddaughter, Sydney Pickering (Josh); and eight great-grandchildren, Tucker, Lyle, Nora, Miller Venche, Addison and Bridger Obrecht, Finley Pickering and Weston Koller.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan 22, at the Church at Creston-Lutheran. Memorials can be made to the Church at Creston or a charity of your choice.
