Rep. Jordan Redman, R- Coeur d’Alene, was recently named the Statesman of the Year by The Gem State Chronicle.
The Chronicle began awarding the Statesman and Stateswoman of the Year in 2023 to two political figures who "best exemplify the American tradition of selflessness and service."
“I was very honored and grateful to receive this award. We have so many incredible legislators in our state and specifically in North Idaho,” Redman said.
The Gem State Chronicle touted Rep. Redman for having left "a significant mark on Idaho law, especially in health care policy."
The Chronicle stressed ideology, effectiveness and long-term vision for candidates for the award.
“Passing any legislation is a team effort and nothing can be accomplished individually,” Redman said. “It has been a great honor to represent the constituents of Idaho and I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve them.”
Redman was appointed chairman of the House Business Committee just this month, succeeding former Rep. Lance Clow, R-Twin Falls, who resigned from the Idaho Legislature last year. He is also a member of two additional legislative committees and at least six interim committees, including the Medicaid Review Panel.
This year, Redman’s focus has turned to one of the most significant issues facing residents in North Idaho.
“I have a number of housing bills I’m working on this year to try to make home ownership more attainable in Idaho, I’m also working on property tax relief for homeowners,” Redman said.
With the legislative session only just begun, he anticipates pursuing additional bills.
