She sings at home, she sings at school, and soon, Jordin Cysewski will be belting it out in Boise and harmonizing in Hawaii.

The 15-year-old Lakeland High School sophomore has been selected to sing Feb. 4-7 in the Idaho Music Educators Association All-State Treble Choir at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa.

This opportunity opened the door to another. Through her All-State auditions, she was discovered by Honor Choir USA, which invited her to perform June 16-22 in Hawaii.

"I feel very proud of my work," Jordin of Hauser said Friday. "I originally thought that all these many years I put into music would go to waste, but being able to sing in a treble choir for All-State and being picked to go to Hawaii has given me hope."

Jordin, a soprano, has been in the Lakeland choir for two years, but she has been a vocalist her whole life.

"We always knew that she was happy when she was singing," said her mom, Briana Cysewski. "From the time that she could talk she has just always been a singer."

Jordin said singing is and always has been her comfort.

"Wherever I sing, I feel at home," she said.

The All-State conference will feature band and orchestra groups as well as a mixed and a jazz choir. The conference is organized by the Idaho Music Educators Association, a nonprofit composed of current and former music teachers and administrators from public and private schools across the Gem State.

Only about 150 students nationwide are chosen for Honor Choir USA, so this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and quite the honor for the young singer. The choir will perform at different locations, such as the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

"It's a pretty rare thing that she even got selected," Cysewski said. “I am just thrilled; I have no words. I’m speechless. We're over the moon proud of her."

Jordin has no private or formal vocal training, although she sometimes takes piano and voice lessons from her grandmother. She taught herself how to play the guitar and ukulele. She played violin in middle school and is versed in reading music. She also writes her own songs.

"She's definitely got her grandma's musical talent, that's for sure," Cysewski said.

Justin Bieber's "Nobody But Me" is Jordin's favorite song. She loves most genres of music, especially bedroom pop.

"I've written most of my songs with that style," she said.

She has always wanted to professionally sing and would like to be joined by backup singers or even start a band. If that doesn't pan out, she wants to be a first responder.

Jordin stays busy running track and playing basketball, often bouncing from the court to the stage as she sings the national anthem before events at her school.

"She’s a great kid, and for the world to know how great of a kid she is is the best feeling, definitely a mommy payoff moment," Cysewski said. "She’s so talented. I want the world to know how talented she is."

It will cost about $6,000 for Jordin to participate in Honor Choir USA in Hawaii. Her family has created a GoFundMe page to help with fundraising.

"The only thing I'd like to add is I am so honored to be recognized like this," Jordin said.

Jordin Cysewski, 15, of Hauser, has been selected to perform in an All-State choir in Nampa in February and with Honor Choir USA in June. She is pictured here in early December 2025.
