Curtis Zook, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Kalispell on Jan. 13, 2026. He was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Red Lodge to Vernon and May Zook.

His early years were spent on the ranch near Red Lodge with his siblings, Herb, Lorna and Vivian. He attended the one room schoolhouse down the road and High School in Red Lodge.

After graduating he spent the winters roughnecking in the oil fields in Wyoming and the summers helping his dad on the ranch. Then he and his good friend, Jim Roat, decided to enlist in the Army. Most of his two years of service were spent in Germany on the army rifle team.

After his discharge his brother Herb encouraged him to enroll as a student at Montana State University. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1962 and immediately began a long career with the telephone company starting with Mountain Bell. He was initiated into the Sigma Chi fraternity and kept in touch with his many brothers there all his life.

While at MSU he met Helen. They married in 1964 and began their married life in Helena. After several moves, they settled in Denver for the next five decades. He was so happy to come back home to Montana two years ago, and he remained an avid Bobcat fan!

He is survived by his wife, Helen and two sons, Greg (Emma, his wife and Alia, his daughter) and Brian (Lisa, his wife, and Sam and Tyler, his sons).

He loved spending time with family, playing cards, traveling, skiing, bowling and golf.

A service will be held at a later date. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
