Dennis Alan Tost, 72, passed away on Jan. 16, 2026, after a very short battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family. Dennis was born on July 27, 1953, in Renton, Washington.
Known to many as "Bubba" at Plum Creek he earned the nickname for his stocky build, his warm smile and easy-going nature. He dedicated 37 years of hard work and loyalty to Plum Creek where he eventually retired. His work ethic and reliability were hallmarks of who he was, both on the job and at home.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in time spent with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Elizabeth Tost and sister, Linda Curran.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his sons, Jason Tost and Brian Tost; her daughters, Stephanie Miller (Jason), Tanya Jackson (David) and Farrah Naldrett (James); his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Jackson, Piper Miller, Zoe Tost, Meena Tost, Naomi Tost, Levi Naldrett Isaiah Tost, Lily Naldrett, Jonah Tost, Liam Naldrett and Elias Tost; his great-grandchildren, Trevyn Jackson and Beckham Jackson; brother, Roger Tost (Barb); brother-in-law, Wayne Curran; nephews, Jack (Myisha) and Wayne Jr. (Tanya); and nieces, Becky (Jason) and Shelly.
He was a graduate of the University of Washington in 1975 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.
He volunteered weekly at the Flathead Food Bank, and it was something he truly enjoyed doing alongside his wife. He also cherished their lunch dates at their favorite spots which were the Nite Owl and Kalispell Kitchen.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Jan. 23 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.
The family wishes to thank hospice for their compassionate care as well as all the staff at Logan Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Flathead Food Bank in his memory.
