Even when they're bad, the Tigers are really good

Even when they play bad, the St. Regis Tiger boys are really, really good.
The unbeaten, No. 6 ranked team in the latest Montana Class C power poll, the Tigers shot very poorly and still managed to outlast the dangerous Two Eagle River Eagles 60-55 in St. Regis Friday.
In other action last week, coach Jesse Allan’s Tigers went into Superior and downed the rival Bobcats 71-35 Thursday.
Improving to 5-0 in 14C conference play and 10-0 overall, the Tiger’s next tests are home games in St. Regis against Class B Mission Tuesday (this game replaces one of the cancelled Hot Springs games) and with 14C foe Noxon Friday.
Allan felt good about the win over the talented Eagles. “It was like a heavyweight fight, they got us off our game early and really kind of controlled the pace throughout,” he said. “We preach defense when shots aren't falling and I think our guys really battled to keep the game close, despite our shooting woes.”
Trailing 45-44 going into the fourth quarter, the Tigers dug down deep and gutted out the win. Conner Lulis led the winning way in spite of not having his best shooting game, canning 10 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth period, where St. Regis outscored Two Eagle 16-10.
Nate Bohn splashed a huge 3-pointer during the crucial fourth quarter run and finished the game with 16 points, Isaac Kelly added 11 (including an and one that tied the game up), Denver Thomas five and Barrett Bessette four.
Ryiley Gates led a balanced Two Eagle River scoring attack with 16 points, Jayvian Burke scored 14 for the Eagles and Talon Addison 13.
In the win over Superior, Bohn paced the Tigers with 23 points, Kelly chipped in with 14, Lulis added 12, Bessette 10, Kaden Church five, Thomas four, Dominic Mancini two and Levi Lowry one.
