Heat split with Panthers, Scarlets

The Hot Springs Savage Heat girls scored a split in games last week, defeating Alberton 62-16 in Alberton Tuesday and falling 48-45 in Arlee Friday.
Coach Brady Ovitt and his Heat have two road games in Mineral County on tap this week, visiting St. Regis Tuesday and Superior Friday.
Callie Cano scored a game-high 14 points in leading Hot Springs past Alberton, Kara Christensen added 11, Makenzie Johnson and Eleanor Massey nine apiece, Dakota Slonaker eight, Kora Hensrude seven, and Ava Bouquet and Ziah Hensrude two each.

Against Arlee, Christensen netted a game-high 21 points for the Savage Heat, Slonaker, Johnson and Massey added seven each, Kora Hensrude two and Alisha Jakabosky one.
Gracie Haynes scored 13 points for Arlee and Kaylee Tanner 10 for the Scarlets.

It wasn’t originally scheduled to go down this way, but the 2026 Gary Thompson Invitational was held at River’s Bend outside of Thompson Falls May 5, and local players dotted the leader board at tourney’s end.
