Lee M. Dexter, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 in Sandpoint, Idaho. He will be laid to rest with his wife Carol at the Libby Cemetery.
Lee was born in Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin on Oct. 20, 1937, to Glen and Thelma Dexter. He served in the Air Force in the mid 1950s which brought him to the Yaak Air Base in Montana. He married Carol Landa in 1956 at St John’s Lutheran Church. He worked as an accountant for the J. Neils Lumber Company, St. Regis Paper Company and Champion International in Libby for most of his career.
Lee was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He had a young spirit and enjoyed spending time on hobbies, which he worked intently: motorcycles, tropical fish, paint by numbers, model planes and square dancing.
He and Carol spent most of their recreation time traveling to dances together or practicing at home. He was known for making the same jokes and sayings at every holiday family gathering.
He is survived by two daughters Cara (Ian) Cameron of Camas, Washington and Angie (Tony) Postlethwaite of Three Forks, Montana; one son Barry (Joyce) Dexter of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother and one sister.
