Libby's Thom leads Greenchain at Jug Beck

The Libby Greenchain wrestling team had a respectable 17th place team finish at last weekend’s Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic in Missoula’s Sentinel School.
Led by senior 190-pounder Ian Thom, who placed fourth, the Greenchain saw four other grapplers take eighth place in a loaded, 33-team field that included several Class AA schools as well as some out of state teams from Washington, Idaho, North Dakota and Wyoming
110-pounder Levi Nick, 150-pounder Tristen DeShazer, 157-pounder Boe Miles and 175-pounder Hunter Rooney each placed eighth. Libby scored 82 points as a team.
Mead, Washington won the team title with 267 points, followed by Montana AA power Flathead, which was second with 212. Mead crowned three champs and the Braves had two.
Tuesday, the Greenchain travel to Eureka for the Battle of the Kootenai. The wrestlers are scheduled to compete at 3 p.m.
Libby’s first home matches are Saturday. They’ll be joined by Bigfork, Browning, Frenchtown and Hamilton. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m.
