Marley Fredette earns Player of Week honors
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 3 months, 4 weeks AGO
Marley Fredette, a freshman player for the Alberton Lady Panthers basketball team, has been named the MHSA (Montana High School Association) Female Athlete of the Week for her fine performance in leading Alberton to a 32-26 win over Noxon in Alberton Jan. 10.
The MHSA press release announcing Marley’s selection cited her “leadership guiding a short-handed Alberton squad to is first varsity win in three seasons.”
Fredette scored 21 points in the Panthers’ win over the visiting Noxon Red Devils, with 15 of those points in the second half. Crucially, Marley converted seven of nine free throws in the game.
The MHSA player of the week honors are based on submissions from around the state each week, for both girls and boys. Nominated athletes must be of good academic standing and demonstrate leadership skills in their chosen sport or activity.
