Wanda Hazel Nebel, 82

Wanda Hazel Mills Nebel of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in Fontana, N.C., on Aug. 4, 1943. Hazel was the third child of John Wesley Mills and Ethel Mae Finley Mills.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Barbara Hooks, and her brother, Wayne Mills. She is survived by her sister, Jackie Lehman of Tallahassee, Fla.; her daughter, Vicki Buchhold and son-in-law Randy of Osteen, Fla.; her son, Jamie Nebel and daughter-in-law Rachel of Spokane, Wash.; and her son, Jason Nebel and daughter-in-law Rhonda of Coeur d’Alene; as well as her grandchildren: Braden Buchhold, Briley Vazquez, Violet Nebel, Trenton Nebel, Corbin Nebel and Brooklyn Nebel. She had 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel moved to Idaho in 1978 where, for many years, she operated Conkling Park Marina with her former husband, owner Jerry Nebel. Jerry remained a good friend and helped care for Hazel in recent years. While living and working at Conkling Park, Hazel became an active member of Worley Community Church, and she enjoyed summer and winter activities in the area as she raised her sons. Frequent trips were made to visit her grown daughter and the rest of her family in Florida. Hazel cared deeply about her children and their families. She was a beloved mother, sister and friend, and she will always be missed by those who loved her.
Hazel’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at Yates Funeral Home Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, followed by her graveside at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Please visit Hazel’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
