Whitefish Credit Union (WCU) has pledged another $50,000 over five years as a Legacy Sponsor to support Whitefish Legacy Partners (WLP) and the Whitefish Trail.
With an increased interest in outdoor recreation, rising development pressure, and a growing need for outdoor education opportunities, WCU’s generous giving is a continuation of their long-term investment in the future of local lands.
“Whitefish Credit Union is honored to continue our partnership with Whitefish Legacy Partners for another five years,” said Jim Kenyon, president of WCU.
“The Whitefish Trail is a cornerstone of our community—creating spaces where families, friends, and neighbors can come together, stay active, and build lasting connections. Investing in these trails means investing in the health, happiness, and strength of our community, and we’re proud to help keep that vision alive.”
WCU is Montana’s largest credit union and has been a dedicated supporter of WLP and the Whitefish Trail since 2018. They have been a Legacy Sponsor of the Whitefish Trail since 2021. As a not-for-profit cooperative, WCU is a full-service financial institution meeting community needs with a depth of experience, knowledge and local philanthropy.
The Whitefish Trail is a donor-supported project that seeks innovative solutions on the lands surrounding Whitefish for the benefit of high-quality recreation, wildlife, water quality, working forests and permanent public access. With 49-miles of trail accessed by 15 close-to-town trailheads, the Whitefish Trail connects the community to surrounding open lands.
With the opening of the Whitefish Legacy Center in summer 2026, WLP will be expanding its programs for the Flathead Valley.
“We are thrilled that the Whitefish Credit Union has renewed their Legacy Sponsorship for another five years to help with trail development, conservation projects, and free outdoor education programming,” said Cynthia Ingelfinger, WLP director of development. “Their generous commitment is invaluable to our long-term efforts to maintain and expand our recreation infrastructure and establish the Whitefish Legacy Center, and we deeply appreciate their long-term dedication to our work.”
