Lovse is instrumental to event's success

It was lovely to see your coverage of the Second Chance Animal Adoption "Kids Shop for Free" event. There is one correction to the article I would like to mention.

While I was involved in the creation of this event, another very important person came up with the idea a year prior to our first "Kids Shop for Free" experience.

Judy Lovse, who kept the Thrift Store open during some chaotic times, had proposed a "Coats for Kids" promotion the previous year.

It went well, with more than 100 coats being donated to families in need in Boundary County.  The following year we had planned to do the same, but our coat donations were low.  So to give back to the community that is always so supportive of Second Chance, the plan morphed into a chance for children to come and look for gifts at no charge for their family members.

Judy, in her quiet and efficient way, was instrumental to the success of this idea.  Other staff and volunteers at the Thrift Store and Shelter all pitched in, as well as the local Drama Club teenagers, to make it a success.  We were able to acknowledge many community businesses who had contributed to the Shelter during the year in conjunction with this event.

While I am no longer involved with Second Chance, it was an honor to be a part of this tradition and an honor to work with Judy Lovse.
