PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Priest River boys rally past Coeur du Christ
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 hours, 15 minutes AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | January 22, 2026 1:00 AM

PRIEST RIVER — A complete game is exactly what Priest River needed on Tuesday night to get back on track, and they did just that.
Senior Ian Lamanna collected a game-high 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, sophomore Madden Redinger recorded 16 points, three assists and a game-high four steals, and the pair got to the rim early and often as the Spartans downed the Saints in a non-league matchup at Priest River High.
Senior Lucas Mathews chipped in eight points, including a 3-pointer, a team-high seven rebounds, a game-high six assists and three steals and junior Ayson Simcox drained two 3-pointers and had eight points in total for Priest River, which led 33-22 heading into the locker room and snapped a five-game losing streak with the win.
"The team played well together," Priest River High head coach Brian Hall said of his team, which had just five turnovers on the night. "We set some goals and accomplished them as a team. We were able to run like we want and controlled the tempo of the game."

Junior Broden Collins added five points and three steals, sophomore Jacob Best four points and four rebounds, and sophomore Wyatt Barth four points and three boards for Priest River (3-6), which is idle until Thursday, Jan. 29 when they'll travel to Kellogg for a 3A Central Idaho League game.
