Libby boys hoops falls to CFalls, Polson; hammers Eureka

The Libby Loggers dropped a pair of Northwest A Conference games last week, falling to Columbia Falls and Polson to move to 1–8 overall and 0–4 in league play.

Tuesday, the Loggers rebounded with a big win, 54-53, at Eureka in the Battle of the Kootenai.

Bransen Holzer scored 18 points, seven coming in the fourth quarter and Libby edged the Lions in non-conference play. 

James Woody scored all of his 10 points in the first quarter the Northwest A Loggers (2-8). 

Brady Chapman scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter for the District 7-B Lions (4-5), including a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Libby opened last week Thursday, Jan. 15, with a 64–27 road loss to Columbia Falls Wildkats. The Wildkats jumped out to an early lead and steadily pulled away, outscoring Libby in all four quarters.

Tristan Andersen led the Loggers with 13 points while Bransen Holzer added eight.

Libby bounced back with a much stronger showing Saturday, Jan. 17, but came up short in a 66–56 loss to the Polson Pirates. The Loggers led 14–12 after the first quarter and stayed within striking distance throughout before Polson pulled away in the final period.

Andersen again paced Libby with a game-high 25 points, providing a consistent scoring presence on the offensive end. Isaac Lamere added 12 points and Kale Hall finished with 11.

Saturday, the Loggers travel to Browning to take on the Indians.
