Libby girls basketball drops pair of conference games

The Libby girls basketball team dropped a pair of Northwest A Conference games last week, falling at home to Polson and on the road at Columbia Falls to move to 2–7 overall and 0–4 in league play.

Libby hosted Polson on Saturday, where the Pirates pulled away early and secured a 51–15 conference win. Polson jumped out to a 17–6 lead after the first quarter and maintained control throughout the game.

Rylee Taylor-Jefferson led all scorers with 22 points for Polson, while Hinkley Moss added 14. The Pirates knocked down four 3-pointers in the opening quarter to set the tone.

Libby struggled offensively against Polson’s pressure defense. Rylee Delmas paced the Loggers with six points, and Jayva Boehmler added four. Polson outscored Libby in each quarter, including a 14–0 advantage in the second stanza.

Earlier in the week, Libby traveled to face Columbia Falls and fell 58–17 on Thursday. The Wildkats took control early, building an 11–2 lead after the first quarter and steadily extending the margin.

Onnika Lawrence led a balanced Columbia Falls scoring effort with 13 points, while Alanis Petersen and Rylee Sweeney chipped in 10 points apiece.

Delmas again led the Loggers with five points.

Tuesday at Eureka in the Battle of the Kootenai game, the Lady Lions won.
