Gabor trial continued to March

SANDPOINT — A four-day trial setting for a Bonner County resident facing severe allegations of child abuse and kidnapping has been continued to early March.
Jordan Everette Gabor, 29, is expected to appear in court Feb. 10 for a status hearing and March 10 for a four-day jury trial, where a group of jurors will determine if there is sufficient enough evidence to find him guilty of felony counts of injury to child, two counts of lewd conduct with a minor, one count of first-degree kidnapping, one count of domestic violence and one count of second-degree kidnapping. The charges stem from alleged incidents that took place around April 2025.
Gabor was originally expected to stand trial Feb. 17 before defense attorney Dana Bowes requested a continuance to allow time to potentially obtain testimony transcripts. According to Bowes, being aware of and having those transcripts is vital in Gabor’s trial.
Bowes also hinted at possible mediation, which will be determined by a Jan. 27 hearing in Kootenai that will determine whether Gabor’s defense team can obtain the applicable testimony transcripts.
If found guilty, Gabor could face life in prison for the alleged abuse and misconduct. His at-the-time girlfriend, Taleea Martin, 27, pleaded guilty to similar charges in June of injury to child, for which she was sentenced to serve ten years in prison.
At the time of publishing, Martin has appealed the decision to the Idaho Supreme Court.
While Martin is assisting in the case against Gabor, a guilty plea in her case does not legally affect his presumption of innocence.
Gabor remains at the Bonner County Jail on a $2.5 million bond.
He was arrested April 26 in Ogallala Neb., before being surrendered and transferred to Bonner County.
According to a criminal complaint, Gabor allegedly slammed a car door on the victim’s head, in addition to striking him numerous times with closed fists. Documents indicate that Gabor willfully caused a child to suffer “unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering.”
In a preliminary hearing for Taleea Martin, it was noted that Gabor appeared to be the main aggressor of the abuse.
Due to the highly sensitive nature of the case, most documents pertaining to both cases are sealed.
“Documents of materials contain highly intimate facts or statements. The publication of which would be highly objectionable to a reasonable person,” reads a motion to redact submitted by the court.
Anyone who suspects abuse should call the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office at 208-263-8417 or the Idaho Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-669-3176. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is also available for suspected child maltreatment at 800-926-2588.
