PREP WRESTLING: Lakeland finishes 4-1, Sandpoint 3-2 in 5A Duals

• BOYS

RATHDRUM — Carson Leonard (120/126 pounds), Kalab Hammer (157), Emmit Rivadeneira (215), Bryan Patrick (98) and Zach Teal (106) went unbeaten for Lakeland, which finished 4-1 in the 5A Duals on Saturday at Lakeland High. 

Lakeland defeated Moscow 69-14, Lewiston 71-11, Minico No. 2 75-9 and Sandpoint 62-21, but fell to Minico 48-27. Minico, of Rupert, finished the day 4-0. 

Sandpoint fell to Minico 52-25, but the Bulldogs bounced back for wins against Minico No. 2 45-32, Moscow 60-17 and Lewiston 48-30. 

Sandpoint travels to Lake City on Tuesday. 

Lakeland hosts Timberlake and Pocatello on Thursday. 


St. Maries finishes 9-1 

at North/South duals 


KOOSKIA — St. Maries went 4-1 on the final day of the North/South Duals tournament at Clearwater Valley High. 

The Lumberjacks beat Tri-Valley 42-34, West Side 54-24, Melba 75-12 and McCall-Donnelly 66-17, but fell to Malad 64-21. St. Maries finished 9-1 for the event.

Kellogg beat Melba 78-6, McCall-Donnelly 72-18, Malad No. 2 65-16 and Lapwai 71-12. Kellogg finished 8-1.

St. Maries hosts the Post Falls JV on Wednesday.

Lake City's Schenk wins

at Pacific Northwest Classic


SPOKANE — Lake City sophomore Poppy Schenk pinned Anahi Garcia of Moses Lake 2:40 into the 140-pound championship match at the Pacific Northwest Classic at University High. 

Junior Katie Rippentrop (second at 170), senior Aspen Kiser (third at 145) and senior Haven McClure (190) also placed for Lake City, which finished ninth out of 25 teams with 80 points. 

Moses Lake won with 229 points. 

Junior Hunter Edmondson (third at 115), senior Alexandra Schroeder (fourth at 125) and senior Teagan Patrick (sixth at 105) placed for Lakeland. 


Garten, Marti, Brown win

at Lady Huskie Invitational


OTHELLO, Wash. — Timberlake senior Shelby Garten (125 pounds), Sandpoint senior Lilli Marti (235) and Post Falls sophomore Kahli Brown (130) nabbed titles in the Lady Huskie Invitational at Othello High. 

Brown beat Desirae Juarez of Southridge by a 10-0 major decision in the 130-pound final. 

Garten beat Amanda Lillie of White River by an 8-0 major decision in the 125-pound championship. 

Marti pinned Kiona Benton’s Aubrey Newberry in 1:44 in the 235-pound championship. 

Senior Emma Younger (second at 120), sophomore Maria Thompson (fourth at 190), junior Vada Hutchinson (fifth at 115), sophomore Kassie Voss (fifth at 235) and senior Sophia Stewart (sixth at 135) and sophomore Makayla Reynolds (eighth at 170) also placed for Post Falls. 

Junior Isabella Stark (third at 130), sophomore Vanessa Hood (third at 135), junior Teagan Newsom (fourth at 140), sophomore Summer Birch (fourth at 120) and junior Zxyloh Hull-Johnson (fifth at 155) placed for Sandpoint, which was second with 229 points. 

Royal (Wash.) won with 242 points.
