The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre presents "Madagascar, the Musical," with an opening planned for Friday, Jan. 30 at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts.

The hit Dreamworks film takes to the stage in this exciting live performance. Get ready to party with lions and hippos and zebras, oh my. Maybe you will see a lemur or two? Or even a giraffe. With catchy songs, such as the hit song “Move it” from the original film, you will be\ guaranteed to dance the night away.

Performances run Jan. 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 1 at 2 p.m., and Feb. 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m.

At the Central Park Zoo in New York City, four unlikely friends have been enjoying the luxurious life of captivity. Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo (played by Noah Gibson, Renzo Spencer, Keira Evans, and Macie Jackson) find themselves on an unwanted adventure when Marty expresses a wish to run free in the wild.

With the help of some sly penguins (played by Ryder Meler, Jack Ford, Harrison Hallock, Gavin Thompson, Jace Weist) Marty and his friend find themselves in the concrete jungle of NYC and eventually on a ship headed for the wild overseas. Though their trip is cut short by some poor steering and they find themselves on the island of Madagascar.

The lemurs, led by King Julian (played by Zoe Kreiman) see the opportunity to have protection from predators with a Lion on their side and quickly befriend the New Yorkers.

However, will this new tropical life be enough for our city heroes or will they wish to return to the life they knew back in the city? Friendships will be tested, battles will be fought, and party pants will boogie.

With an incredible cast of young performers, "Madagascar, the Musical" is sure to be a treat for audiences of all ages.

Tickets can be purchased at bigforksummerplayhouse.com or at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts box office one hour before the show.
