Girls hoops: Whitefish's Orme scores 31; 1st league win for Ronan

POLSON — Avery Orme poured in 31 points, 21 coming during a dominant first half by Whitefish, and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat Polson 62-40 in Northwest A girls basketball Tuesday.

Orme hit all three of her 3-pointers in the first half while Whitefish (8-4, 4-1 in the Northwest A) built a 40-20 lead. 

Alli Shors added 12 for the Bulldogs, nine coming in the first half. 

Rylee Taylor-Jefferson’s 17 points led the Lady Pirates (7-4, 3-2 in league. She and teammate Aleysia Black hit three 3-pointers each.

Aleysia Black added 14 points for Ronan

Ronan 61, Columbia Falls 60

RONAN — Neveah Perez scored 12 points, including a put-back for the winning points with 18 seconds left, and Ronan beat Columbia Falls for its first Northwest A victory.

Maddy Illig scored 13 points to lead the Maidens (2-10 overall, 1-5 in the Northwest A); she hit three 3-pointers.  

Perez, who had eight points in the second half, scored after Columbia Falls’ Onnika Lawrence hit two free throws to put her team up 60-59 with 1:40 left.  

Lawrence had had 27 points for the Wildkats (6-5, 4-2 in league), including five 3-pointers.
