WALLACE — The Directors of The Frank A. Morbeck Community Foundation, Inc. are pleased to announce that the Foundation is receiving applications for grants and awards for the calendar year 2026. The deadline for submitting applications is March 1, 2026.
The Directors of the Foundation will meet in March to act on grant applications. It is anticipated that the Foundation will announce its grant selections in April 2026.
The Foundation is an Idaho nonprofit corporation created by Frank A. Morbeck to benefit the quality of life in and throughout the community and surrounding area of Wallace, Idaho, by fostering and enhancing charitable giving and philanthropic purposes. Mr. Morbeck passed away in May 2000 at the age of 78. He left the majority of his estate to the Foundation.
Mr. Morbeck strongly believed that the future of any community was its youth, and his purpose in forming the Foundation was to provide a means through which the community and its youth could enjoy the benefits of his years of investing in the community.
The Foundation will accept grant applications until March 1, 2026, for funding requests in the following categories:
Youth: The Foundation will provide funding assistance to foster, develop, and encourage the participation of Wallace-area youth, including all youth within the boundaries of Wallace School District No. 393, in recreational, athletic, academic, or learning programs.
Community: The Foundation will also provide funding for community organizations located in the Wallace community.
It is up to the Directors of the Foundation to select recipients of any grants or awards made by the Foundation. The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors, all of whom are from the Wallace community. All grants and awards are made at the discretion of the Directors and are derived from the income and earnings generated by the Foundation.
Since the Foundation began awarding grants and scholarships in 2001, more than $3.7 million has been awarded to the community and students. The Foundation is committed to doing all it can to meet the needs of the Wallace community. Mr. Morbeck specified that awards are only to be made that benefit the Wallace community and its youth.
