PREP WRESTLING: Lake City bumps up, topples Sandpoint

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Josh Macdonald won by pin at 165 pounds and senior Tucker Bridwell won via major decision at 175 for the Lake City Timberwolves in a 47-29 dual win over the Sandpoint Bulldogs on Tuesday at Lake City High. 

Macdonald trailed 7-1 midway through the second period before getting pin late in the period.

“That’s what Josh Mac does,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “I always say a Josh Mac match doesn’t start until he’s down 7-1.”

Another big match, Owen said, was at 157, where Kellan Walther won by pin.

Walther, Macdonald and Bridwell all bumped up a weight to help fill out the dual lineup.

“Our kids continued to wrestle hard, and they’re making less mistakes,” Owen said.

Lake City’s boys compete in the North Idaho Rumble on Friday and Saturday at Coeur d’Alene High.

Lake City’s girls host Pocatello on Friday, then host the girls North Idaho Rumble on Saturday.

Sandpoint hosts Coeur d’Alene High tonight.
