The Glacier Nordic Ski Team 2025-26 Comp Team is bigger than ever, with 15 athletes. Thirteen comp athletes and one prep athlete raced last weekend in Midway, Utah, at the 2002 Olympic venue of Soldier Hollow, Utah, just outside Park City.
The opener race was rescheduled from Sun Valley to Bozeman due to a lack of snow, before being cancelled due to poor conditions. The second race of the season was also moved from Bogus Basin, Idaho, to Jackson, Wyoming, because of snow conditions. All the changes made the race in Utah even more valuable.
Given the snow situation across the west, and the awesome racing opportunities at Soldier Hollow, this was, by far, the biggest race of the season, with over 700 competitors from multiple regions ranging from U8 to college athletes in the Intermountain division, Glacier Nordic Team’s region. The Glacier Nordic Ski Team represented well in a classic sprint on Friday and a skate individual distance race on Saturday after months of solid training and preparation,
Findley Dezzani put together some excellent races competing in the U20 category, finishing 12th in the classic sprint after qualifying for quarter finals and moving onto semifinals. She also earned a fourth place finish in the individual skate race. In the U18 races, Liam Browne and Euell Browne battled it out in both the classic sprint and individual skate, finishing only a few seconds apart in the individual skate race.
Nine U16 racers competed. On the boys side, Boden Dezzani lead the way both days, followed closely by his teammates Peter Schram, who experienced an epic crash in his sprint race, Luke Bork and Jack Montiel, who competed in their first races.
On the girls side, Kendall Dye finished sixth in the classic sprint after qualifying for heats. She put down another solid effort in the skate race finishing eighth for Intermountain division. Teammates Marin Gignoux, Addie Nerdig and Noelle Svennungsen also had excellent races to start off the season. Ellie Ward competed in her first ever Junior National Qualifier, posting some exceptional results in a competitive field.
In the U12/U14 races, sisters Heidi and Hannah Bork had impressive first race weekends. Hannah finished an impressive seventh place in the classic sprint and second in the skate distance, and Heidi finished fifth both days in U12 races.
Since the team was one of the largest in the history of Glacier Nordic Ski Team, two vans made the trip to Midway, Utah, with three coaches. Olivia Skillings, Jennie Bender and Ernesta McIntosh lead the crew. Thank you to the parents and supporters who helped us get an all-wheel drive van to transport our athletes and supported this growing team.
