Even though the scoreboard favored the Kellogg Wildcats, it was Bonners Ferry that dominated throughout the wrestling duel at home on Jan. 27 on the basketball court.

With the lights dimmed, six wrestlers from each school faced off against each other. Kellogg won the first match. The Badgers won the next five, ranging from quick victories to hard-fought encounters that could have gone either way.

First up for Bonners Ferry was Eivind Falck, who fought hard in a back-and-forth encounter. He was ultimately pinned but battled throughout the match.

Next was Ethan Matthews in a very calculated wrestling match. The first two rounds were even, but Matthews had a strong third round to have his hand raised for Bonners Ferry’s first win of the night. He won by a score of 9-2.

Colt Barras was the third wrestler and outclassed his opponent with technical skill. His stamina was on display, as there was no letup, and he earned a comprehensive 9-0 win.

Aiden Dodd wrestled immediately after, defeating his opponent in the first round with technically impressive wrestling in one of the quickest matches for the Badgers on the night.

Gaige Johnson went next and was patient to start the match before showing his wrestling acumen with smart movements to take a victory after three rounds with a score of 14-0.

The final Badger wrestler was Robert Kelsey, who defeated his opponent in an exhibition match in matter of seconds to end a successful night for Bonners Ferry wrestling.

Several wrestlers on both sides had their hands raised as winners by forfeit due to having no other competitors in their weight class, resulting in a 42-29 win for Kellogg.
